This banana-loving baby fruit bat is just a few weeks old. It was alone and weak after falling from a tree, when a biologist found it. Bat pups are fragile, and normally stay under their mothers’ wings for a month, so it needed lots of warm cuddles and frequent feedings, day and night.
Despite the attempted rescue, the bat pup did not survive the separation from its mother. But it will be remembered as an ambassador for a species often not considered cute.
