In this episode of FREAKS & CREEPS from National Geographic Animals, Zoologist Lucy Cooke’s globe-spanning quest to champion the weirdest animals in the world takes her to a remote Australian island, Tasmania, to determine which animal deserves the title of "ultimate weirdo." The competition is fierce: With a face like a retired boxer and a scream to send chills down her spine, the scrappy Tasmanian devil seems to be a prime contender. Also on the ballot, a spiny, termite-eating, egg-laying mammal with a four-headed…appendage…called the echidna. And how about the platypus, an animal with the bill like a duck, body of a mammal and defense system like a reptile? Off the coast of Australia, there are plenty of rare and strange animals to encounter.
